Hi all!

I'm doing some minor operational work tonight. It should be transparent, but there's always a chance that something goes wrong. The main thing I'm touching is testing a replacement for Apache2 (our web server software) in one area of the site.

Thank you!

I do so love a challenge! The rules/proposal of this challenge can be found on dreamersdare's journal here.

Week 1 is all about standalone media, so here are 10 pieces of art I love! I'm aiming for 10 different kinds of media, which was a bold choice but I pulled it off, even if some of them are different on a technicality.

  1. Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad (novel) — a British-Palestinian actress living in London visits her sister in the West Bank, where she is roped into playing Gertrude in a local production of Hamlet. One of my favorite books of all time.
  2. Why Don't We Just Kill the Kid in the Omelas Hole? by Isabel J. Kim (short story) — incisive, satirical, and highly awarded short fiction.
  3. Tears For Fun by Griff (song) — I'm a lover of pop music and this one is so sparklingly melancholy and right up my alley.
  4. Calling a Wolf a Wolf by Kaveh Akbar (poetry collection) — I have many favorite poetry collections, but this is a more recent favorite. Made me realize how autobiographical certain aspects of his novel Martyr! were.
  5. They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us by Hanif Abdurraqib (essay collection) — I posted about this book online and someone replied that they believe Abdurraqib to be the best living American writer; I have a hard time disagreeing with that opinion.
  6. Hitman (video game) — Maybe the first video game I ever truly loved. Immensely fun combination of stealth, silliness, and tension. Endless possibilities for creative problem-solving.
  7. Hamlet is a Paladin by binary-bird (comic) — Part of my personality at this point.
  8. Last Hope by Paramore (live performance) — I could not tell you how many times over the last ten years I've watched this. I find this song immensely comforting and the performance is beautiful.
  9. Bliss Montage by Ling Ma (short story collection) — my faves from this literary & surrealist collection were G and My 100 Ex-Boyfriends and I Hang Out Every Day.
  10. Lasers & Feelings (TTRPG) — I've run variations on lasers and feelings multiple times and I love that it's concise, easy to pick up, and super flexible.
Hell yeah! Realized I didn't put any fic on this list which is nuts. Next time!

Hi babes!

I have a couple of short stories I'm about to send on submission — one has done a short round ages ago and got some sweet personalized rejections but didn't land anywhere, and the other hasn't been submitted anywhere yet. Together they total to under 3,000 words. They are weird, think speculative litfic/high concept absurdism. If any of you tend to read or write shortform fiction yourself, either in the general/litfic genre or the more speculative genre, I'd love some feedback before I embark upon some more submission rounds.

Thank you in advance! <3

It's maybe a little odd to phrase it this way, but only after like 4+ years of on and off watching BL dramas (and getting into GL dramas) am I getting to stage of actually being okay with/open to "bad" endings again because it's not about the gay, it's about the plot. You now have my trust that you're not “killing off the gays” because they're gay, so I'm okay with killing off main characters if the plot makes sense that way.

[spoiler about a 2025 GL series]I really loved Runaway.
And I probably would not have been ready to like it 4 years ago.

Right now I'm making personal bets about characters dying in
[vague not-really spoiler about a currently airing BL series]Goddess bless you from death
and having a lovely time.

(Okay I’m still not going to watch heavy political/etc. type dramas but that’s just a general preference.)
